Julian Zigerli Spring/Summer 2014

My second show during this months Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin was at off-site venue Cruise & Callas where Julian Zigerli presented his spring/summer 2014 collection 'At the end of the world to the left'. Zigerli collaborated with artist Katharina Grosse on the prints to dissolve the borders between clothing, art and ambiance. The colourful, extensive prints have been taken from already existing works of the artist and partially she also sprayed the colours directly on the white samples in her studio. The prints were an absolute eyecatcher and express the designers love for colours and sense of humour. Loose-fitting cuts combined with functional details result in practical clothes that stand out due to the notable print and colour choices. Smart details like the buttons, unusual cut-outs and the placement of the pockets complete the look. The guys who like the look but aren't brave enough for the bold prints can stick to the monochromatic pieces. The collection is something I haven't seen thousands of times before that's why I think Julian Zigerli is an up-and-coming one who should be kept an eye on.
