How to work this season’s florals on the beach

They come round every summer season, but this year, florals are extra BIG news. Seen on the spring/summer 2013 catwalks for designers from Gucci to Dolce & Gabbana, flower prints were blooming big, bold and bright.
Of course, bold and bright isn’t for everyone, nor every occasion. Holidays are great times to be an extra bit daring and experimental, after all, you don’t know anyone around you. If you usually see florals as too girly to be your thing or can’t help but think of your Nan’s drapes when you see a flowery dress, how about taking your version of this look to the beach? Here’s a quick how-to on ways to work florals on the sand.
The Swimwear:
This halterneck bikini from Motel takes in two trends in one – the floral and 50s trend. The print is bright and bold without being too loud.
The Sunglasses:
Don’t shy away from bright shades if you are so inclined, but do stop short of adding another print. The Focus Online site allows you to search by colour so you can pick out the colour of some petals on your suit and carefully coordinate, but we like this classic black pair from Marc by Marc Jacobs.
The Shoes:
Play it safe with flip flops, or add a little glamour with a wooden mule heel. The pastel shades in these Vila sandals from Psyche are perfect for pairing with petal prints, and with the help of a matching scarf, will safely take you from beach to bar.
