For pre-fall Christopher Bailey playfully interpreted signature Burberry
silhouettes and colors with striking embellishments and new patterns. A
cropped aviator jacket with bulky sleeves was combined with an
exquisite jeweled skirt, while a chevron knit top was shown with a cool
grommeted leather skirt. Bailey also mixed fabrics for some terrific
outerwear pieces, including one tailored coat, its top in beige cashmere
and bottom in an abstract dégradé printed calfskin. The menswear, which
featured elegant double-breasted coats, slim-fit pants and T-shirts
with whimsical motifs, like a Beefeater or an English bobby, provided a
great counterpart.
