Marc Philippe Coudeyre presented his spring/summer 2013 collection during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin and I got up very early last Friday to attend the presentation. The collection is named 'Paradise Lost' which is reflected in the palm prints and the bloomy headpieces. The designer who graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp presented clean yet feminine cuts and silk was the dominating fabric. His choice of colours ranges from pale shades to metallic touches of gold and silver to bright summery colours like coral orange, deep red and canary yellow. There's something for each occasion in this collection with mix-and-match separates like cigarette pants and draped tops for the daytime and embellished jackets and layered dresses for the evening. Coudeyre is a globetrotter who grew up in Scotland, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates and Columbia and it looks as if he incorporated his exotic influences in this collection but without losing its sophisticated simplicity or making the pieces too playful which makes the looks very modern. I also enjoyed the music by Belgian electro acoustic duo Joy Wellboy who accompanied the presentation with their sound.
