MALAIKARAISS Spring/Summer 2013

Last week was Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin and one of the shows I attended was the presentation of Berlin-based womenswear label MALAIKARAISS. The show took place at the impressing Villa Elisabeth which was the perfect location for this sophisticated collection. Designer Malaika Raiss named her spring/summer 2013 collection „A BIGGER SPLASH“ and presented clean yet elegant designs in suitable strong, lively colours like bright swimmingpool-blue and palmgreen next to white, nude and black - a colour palette inspired by the work of David Hockney. The collection was influenced by the 60's and 70's, the years when Hollywood stars like Jane Fonda or Dennis Hopper celebrated legendary parties in 'Chateau Marmont' but also the 90's à la Beverly Hills 90210 were a source of inspiration. Slim silhouettes that are characteristic for MALAIKARAISS were combined with oval shaped jackets and tops. The wide-legged trousers, jumpsuits and dresses come in flowing, delicate fabrics which complete the collection and give it a perfect summery lightness. I honestly have to say that MALAIKARAISS was one of my most favourite collections during MBFWB and I can't wait til it will hit the stores!
