CHANEL Paris-Bombay Métiers d'Art 2011/12 Show trailer

With all the political drama and financial crisis going on in the world the Chanel pre-fall 2012 show 'Paris - Bombay' might appear a little out of place right now. But wasn't fashion always more creative and beautiful in times of crisis? As the title already implies the collection was inspired by India. Karl Lagerfeld showed decadence at its best and presented a collection and a location so opulent that it would arouse jealousy in every maharaja. But while most lavishly handworked pieces are produced in India these days because it would be too expensive to create them in western countries Karl Lagerfeld showed pieces that might look like they're from India but ironically have all been made in the Chanel ateliers in Paris. A very beautiful and appropriate Salute to the late François Lesage who passed away last week at the age of 82.
