Night Out Fashions

As the nights draw in and the warm evenings of summer fade into the hazy realms of memory, it is time to reassess your evening wardrobe, choosing new pieces to see you through the autumn and winter in style.

Heading off on a night out is a great opportunity to express your personal style, as outfits for socialising can be braver and bolder than those chosen for day to day wear, but it is important to remain mindful of the trends of the moment if you want be noticed for all the right reasons.

Night Out Fashion Trends for Autumn/Winter 2011

The catwalks for this season were awash with exciting outfits that can be easily adapted and accessorised for evening wear. Some of the trends that emerged during the fashion week showcases that look likely to become popular choices for a night out include:

* Plunging Necklines Рrevealing the d̩colletage in the most extreme ways seem to be a signature style for this autumn. Best kept for evening wear, not least because of the practicalities of not catching cold, this look is best attempted by women with smaller busts as attempts by the more buxom to emulate this style can be hard to carry off while still looking classy.

* Sheer Maxi-Dresses – continuing the popular spring/summer trend, the maxi dress is receiving something of an overhaul for autumn, moving it firmly into the realms of evening wear. The night out maxi dress will be light and sheer and will need careful accessorising to create a more glamorous impression than its daytime counterpart. Underwear choices will also be massively important with this trend – with the possibility of bras and knickers being visible in some lights through the lightweight fabrics meaning wearers will need to select modest but stylish designs.

* The Female Tuxedo – great news for the would-be tomboys among us – the female tuxedo is making a return for this seasons evening wear ranges. Tailored suits teamed with feminine frills create a strong, smart night out look - and provide a great excuse to don that pair of killer heels as well.

* Frills and Flounces – for the more feminine among us, there is also good news, as girly embellishments are also making a comeback. Think layered frills, lacy trims and even feathers for this unapologetically feminine effect.

Shopping for Night Out Outfits

If you have a big night out coming up this autumn, then it is time to start shopping for that outfit. Great places to look for autumn wardrobe items include:
