Augustin Teboul Spring/Summer 2012

Berlin is full of creative talent and it's not easy to stand out among all these young and upcoming labels from Germany's capital but AUGUSTIN TEBOUL have managed to do so. I've been invited to the presentation of their spring/summer 2012 collection which took place in the former horse stable of Bötzow-Brewery in Berlin Mitte. There I got to see the spectacular staging of their collection themed "Dreams are my reality" which was carried out in cooperation with Cointreau. In the entrance area guests were welcomed with a Cointreaupolitan and I got a practical cocktail shaker with instructions on how to mix it. Then in the next room two stages were set up on which eleven models who appeared lost in reverie embodied alternating the reality of a naiv-alluring teenage girl and the unseizable subjectivity of all our dreams. To the sound of Richard Sanderson's 'Reality' which has been newly interpreted for the show the models presented the deep black creations of AUGUSTIN TEBOUL giving the audience a feel of being in a different reality at that moment. We got to see floor-length gowns made of subtle, semi-transparent silk, crocheted bodies with hand-made details and soft leather with shimmering fringes. The models wore artfully designed headdresses by hair stylist Lisa Zeitler and the end of the performance was a wedding sequence as a synonym for the fulfillment of a misty-eyed dream - presented by a model like a supernatural creature from another world. It's hard to describe the atmosphere during the show but it felt as if we were in a parallel universe which made it one of the most impressive events during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week for me. I hope to see more of AUGUSTIN TEBOUL in the future.
