Y-3 just announced that they'll be starting a global retail initiative at the end of May to support relief efforts in Japan. Yohji Yamamoto created a special WE LOVE JAPAN tote bag for Y-3 to help the Japanese population affected by the earthquake and tsunami. The tote bag will be available in select Y-3 flagship stores across Europe, the US, in Hong Kong and Indonesia, retailing for $15 / € 12 of which all proceeds will be donated to benefit relief efforts. In Japan, from May 20th until June 5th, Y-3 will donate 10% of sales, while the bag will be given to customers as a gift with purchase. This will take place in the following stores across Japan: Aoyama Flagship, Shibuya Seibu, Shinjuku Takashimaya (all Tokyo), Umeda Hankyu Men's Building, Shinsaibashi Daimaru (both Osaka), Kobe Daimaru (Kobe) and Kokura Izutsuya (Kokura). All funds from this global initiative will be utilized for the on-going provision of immediate relief and for eventual recovery support to the affected population. You'll get a Y-3 bag for $15 / € 12 which is peanuts and people in Japan will get food, medical care and a warm place to stay. Great deal, isn't it?
