Burberry Prorsum Fall/Winter 2011 Menswear

'A coat for all seasons' was the theme for Burberry Prorsum's fall/winter 2011 menswear collection and it totally lived up to its name. Inspiration was a Burberry ad campaign from the early 60's that Christopher Bailey found in the archives where each photo was taken in different weather conditions. The show started very colourful with oversized coats in bright colours like red, tangerine, amber and blue and then continued with quieter tones like camel, different browns, grey and black. The sculptural outerwear pieces were combined with black slim leg trousers and rubber sole shoes and accessorized with either totes or briefcases. Coats varied in styles and details, there were double and single-breasted ones as well as duffles and some came with fur collars for a more elegant look. The checked coats pick up the traditional British style but transformed in a modern version of it which I really like. Now let's hope that the guys are brave enough to add some colour to their wardrobe next winter. As usual you were able to order the collection right away on and you still have the possibility to do so until Sunday, January 23.
