To Write Love on Her Arms

To Write Love on Her Arms is a non-profit organization with the mission to present hope and find help for people struggling with deppresion, addiction, self-injury and suicide. It exists to encourage, inform, inspire and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery. TWLOHA has been founded in 2006 by Jamie Tworkowski who got it all started by writing a story about 19-year-old Renee Yohe who battled against addiction, depression, self-injury and attempted suicide. In addition to the story T-shirts were printed and sold in Orlando to fund Renee's drug treatment and a MySpace page was created to serve as a homebase for the project. Supported by bands as Anberlin and Switchfoot who began wearing the shirts right away TWLOHA soon began to receive messages from young people struggling with the same issues that Renee faced. What began as an attempt to help one person quickly gained wider interest (up to date) and TWLOHA has responded to over 80.000 messages from people in 40 different countries over the last two and a half years. In August 2007 they received the MySpace Impact Award in the Community Building category and September 10-17 has been called 'TWLOHA Week' and many write 'LOVE' on their arms during that week, sharing the story of hope with others.
If you want to get further information about TWLOHA and/or want to support their cause you should check out their website where you can also get the T-shirts:
