ACNE Womenswear Fall/Winter 2010

I think the best way to fully understand a collection is to hear (read) what the designer has to say about it.... Jonny Johansson on ACNE Autumn/Winter 2010 Collection:

“Sometimes when you start a collection you have the visionary idea and sometimes you just want to be real – like in the music industry it is a really positive thing to be known as real. So my inspiration this season came from a very real personal place – my home life. My sons are completely obsessed with Star Wars and I have to watch and live it day after day, so for this season I created an aesthetic based around Star Wars the Clone Wars. I am not doing it because I have a choice; it has just completely penetrated my world. The thing with inspiration it is not so literal it is more the colour palate, the feeling and the shapes which inspired me. It is also a collection that continues from last season and an exploration of spirituality and astronomy from the show’s makeup direction to the long, floaty and easy silhouette. For AW10 we also decided to work again with the amazing jeweller Husam El Odeh. I feel we have just started to explore our creativity together and to stop that after a few months felt really wrong. For me collaboration is more of a love affair – I am not really into one night stands.”

The ACNE silhouette for fall/winter 2010 focuses on draping, layering, pocketing and looking long and slender. While the collection is marked by neutrality, the footwear provides a tough counter point in the strongest metallic leathers and sculptural fur boots. ACNE exercises low tech vs. high tech and luxe vs. destroyed with fabrics like silk, suede, burnt wool, sheep skin, mesh and kid leathers. The look is soft, subtle and discrete - just like we know and love ACNE!
