Maison Martin Margiela 'Untitled'

Maison Martin Margiela has launched their first fragrance 'Untitled'. The scent is distributed by L'Oréal and will debut at Colette in Paris next week. It will be available elsewhere in March. 'Untitled' is a unisex fragrance and is described as 'floral, woody and very green' as well as 'ambery and oriental' and 'can be worn by anyone, anywhere'. Based on green floral notes you can smell galbanum, boxwood, mastic, incense and bitter orange, as if they'd be gathered after the rain. Additionally jasmin, cedar and musk notes have been added to the perfume. The scent has been created by perfumer Daniela Andrier, who's also the nose behind YSL's Rive Gauche, Gucci Rush for men and several Prada perfumes. Even though Maison Martin Margiela is now sans Martin Margiela, the house is staying true to it's no-label concept by calling the scent 'Untitled' and keeping the packaging in typical blank white. It joins the ranks of other 'avant-garde' and 'niche' scents that are gaining in importance such as Standard by Comme des Garçons and Artek. A statement that had been released last year read: "This signature scent will inspire radical new perspectives for perfumes with a more personal approach, following the success of the brands with star logos..."
