2010 Jewelry Preview

If you're a true fashion devotee, chances are you've been following what could be considered the equivalent to the Super Bowl of the fashion world- the 2010 fashion shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris. From nude neutrals and peek-a-boo cut-out leather, to feathers, metallics and school girl chic, there's nothing boring about the Spring 2010 collections- designer jewelry and accessories are no exception.

While Marc Jacobs is bringing back the "scrunchie" and Anna Sui is marching to the beat of her own drum with a black marching band hat, one must be brave to bare these bold, statement accessories in 2010. Even the jewelry is seemingly avant-garde and in some cases, bazaar. From organically shaped bone necklaces adorned with animal bones, rope and skeletal-like wood structures making an anatomical statement at VPL, to enormous Lucite beaded necklaces and over-sized Lucite cuffs at Michael Kors, jewelry trends for 2010 are big and bold.

Doo.ri fuses both jewelry and accessories with accessories "veiled" in webs of shiny, fine black chain while Krizia shows Wonder Woman-style cuff bracelets, geometric earrings that drop well below the declate and circular bracelets worn on the forearm.

When it comes to everyday jewelry for 2010, there is no shortage of interesting and wearable designs. Buckinghamshire-born Dominic Jones has been said to be an "up and coming" jewelry designer to watch in 2010. His edgy Tooth and Nail collection, which debuted in March of 2009, included tooth-like necklaces, bracelets, knuckle dusters and stick-like metal with gold and soft pearls. The collection is a perfect blend of edgy rock and roll and sophistication, with a bit of vamp.

For a hint of Deco-chic, designer Holly Fulton introduces her line of shape inspiring, unique graphic pieces that include everything from earrings to necklaces. Clean geometric lines, modern materials and a graphic collection make her a designer to watch. You may consider investing in a piece sooner than later, as there have been reports that her pieces will be worn by Sarah Jessica Parker in the upcoming Sex and the City film- undoubtedly because of Patricia Field's fashion eye.

While the designs all differ, when it comes to the 2010 jewelry preview, there is one commonality- boldness.
