If there's something every woman needs to have it's definitely a pearl necklace! Pearls are classic and add elegance to every outfit. The world's most revered pearl house was founded in 1893 by Kokichi Mikimoto. Mikimoto played an important role in the invention of the modern cultured pearl industry and his name soon became synonymous with the finest quality pearls. Kokichi Mikimoto also invented the proprietary grading system of sorting and grading pearls. Today, only the top 3-5% of the pearl's harvest meets the rigorous quality control standards that Mikimoto has established. There are four Mikimoto grades, AAA being the highest quality: A, A+, AA and AAA and also four sub-grades: A1, A+1, AA1 and AAA1. The "1" represents a slightly more blemished surface. The Mikimoto mission lives on today, through the maintenance of the highest standards of quality in the pearl industry, and the continual strive for the finest materials and the most elegant of jewelery. Below you can see some of the beautiful pieces of Mikimoto.
